The Value of Equality
Take action and keep the change.
Did you know that the first American dollar was printed in 1862? If you’re reading this in 2024, let me do the math for you: that’s 162 years. And yet, the faces on the bills remain the same—all white males. It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that times have changed, and significant progress has been made. So why haven’t the faces on U.S. currency evolved accordingly?
We needed to ignite a conversation about this long-overdue change. However, updating the actual bills is not a simple task. Others with bigger desks than us have tried, but that’s what I love about my job, every challenge holds an opportunity. In this case, we decided to leverage Venmo as a tool to hijack the American currency and invite people to join us and collectively exert pressure on those with the power to make a real change.
